“I thought about writing a song about how much I felt like eating a hamburger but somehow it just didn’t really take off. Then I got thinking about those primal adolescent feelings of love and desire – hunger for someone. I remember that time – feeling completely overcome by these crazy emotions. No longer a teenager myself, I see girls during that time and I find myself intimidated by their intensity. It’s such a wild time that will always fascinate me. And so this little song was born…”

A song about a hunger for the love of life. Rowley says, “I’d just learnt Travis picking. It was a couple of hours of work. I didn’t edit anything. I thought about extending the song but I liked the brevity of it which alluded to a sense of intimacy around the memory like I shouldn’t be looking there.”

“After an hour, I only had a verse or two and felt really stuck on where to take it but I left the song for a while and came back to it with my band and that’s when it all came together. Stability is about becoming aware of the changes you need to make in order to help yourself, but struggling to actually get to a point where you’re implementing them.”
